The result reads instantly as "the macOS-feeling Linux," though the team would say they are not imitating anyone; they are designing properly.

Built on Ubuntu LTS, it is stable underneath and calm on top: a dock, a top panel, a clean multitasking view, and apps that follow one coherent design language. The flip side of curation is opinion. elementary expects you to work its way, hides customization the designers consider clutter, and its app ecosystem is intentionally small.
